My refrigerator seems to run constantly. Is that normal?
No. There are several possible causes. Make sure that the refrigerator’s condenser coils are clean, that there’s enough space between the condenser coils and the wall (at least one inch) for adequate air flow. Also make sure that the door seal (gasket) is in good condition.
What are the best temperature settings for my fridge and freezer?
Your refrigerator’s thermostat should be set to 36 to 38 degrees Fahrenheit and your freezer’s thermostat from 0 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit. Sometimes the freezer has a setting, this should be adjusted to 1 which mean more air flows into the fridge side. A lot of people think that turning the freezer all the way up is a good thing, it is not. It shuts a manual vent which means more air in the freezer but less air in the fridge.
How long can I expect my refrigerator to last before I replace it?
The average life of a refrigerator is 14 to 17 years. Some last many more years, others many fewer. Proper maintenance will positively impact the life of your refrigerator.
