Do I really need to clean out my dryer's lint filter after every load?
Yes. it is essential that you clean out not only your lint filter before and after every load but you should also clean out your dryers venting system at least once a year, as a clogged venting system could cause a very serious build up of carbon monoxide in your home.
How long should it take for my clothes to dry?
Most dryers can dry a full load in 45 minutes or less, depending on the size of the load and the bulkiness of the items you are drying (ex: blankets and comforters may take longer than hand towels or delicate articles). Overfilling your dryer will result in a longer dry time as the items do not have enough space to tumble.
If you are experiencing consistently damp loads however, it is very likely that your venting system is clogged and needs to be cleaned out ASAP.
How can I reduce my dryer's energy consumption?
Don’t overload your dryer. Follow the owner’s manual for instructions on load sizes for your particular model. Clean out the lint filter after every load and once per year, clean out the entire venting system. Pay attention to drying times so that you’ll know when there is a problem.
